Ari Hirschman - Biography

Ari was born in Kansas where he spent the first four years of his life.  From there, he went to Buenos Aires, Argentina where he completed school.  The growing turmoil eventually forced his parents to return to the US in 1973, where they settled in Washington, D.C.

When Ari was in the fourth grade, he peeked into his teacher's notebook and found a note about himself that read "Ari needs to play with play dough under his desk during class."  From an early age he has used art to help him interpret his thoughts, feelings, hopes and fears.

His work is mostly motivated by his constant desire to explore aspects of the basic human condition as it relates to human interactions, interpersonal relationships and the development of human civilization.  His work is also heavily shaped by his strong interest in understanding the fabric that makes up the universe, and consequently, allowed human intellect to exist.  He is obsessed with time, life and death.  Not just of living creatures but of particles, stars, planets and universes.

The main body of his work explores different situations such as small and large gatherings, the role of leaders and followers, the masses, the thinkers, how the sexes view each other, the slow march of civilization in modern societies.  He also likes to attempt to capture the dimension of time in some of his works.

Ari attended the University of Maryland.  Some of his past exhibitions include Tides Gallery (Miami, FL), Unzipped Gallery (Miami, FL), The Art League Gallery (Virginia) and Miami Art Group Gallery (Miami, FL). He is a member of the Boca Raton Museum Artists Guild Gallery.
